SONIC1 Firmware Update - HOWTO


STEP 0.

Prepare a blank Micro-SD card, either erase previous contents or format the card.
The card should be no bigger than 32GB, otherwise it may not work with the SONIC1 controller.


STEP 1.

Select the approprate firmware update image to download from the Firmware Update Archive folder. Taking care to download the correct image for your controller.

The selection list will look similar to the following. Locate the .zip file associated with your controller board:



STEP 2.

Open the folder containing the downloaded .zip file archive.





STEP 3.

Select the firmware update .zip archive file, and extract it's contents.



After extracting the contents of the .zip file, you should have a folder with a similar name.
Double click the newly created folder to enter into it.



The contents of the newly created folder should look similar to this.





STEP 5.

Copy (drag and drop) the entire contents of this folder to a blank Micro-SD card.

STEP 6.

Remove the Micro-SD card and insert it into the SONIC1 as shown here.



STEP 7

Power On SONIC1 or power cycle the SONIC1 if it is already powered on.


STEP 8.

Monitor STATUS LEDs until the RED status LED extingushes (about 2-3 minutes) and then the GREEN status LED begins flashing.
Once the GREEN status LED begins flashing, then the firmware update process has completed.
If at any time during this process, the RED status LED begins flashing rapidly, this indicates that the firmware update has failed, in which case, the process should be restarted. If it continues to fail, contact tech support.




STEP 9.

Remove SD card from SONIC1
